February 8-9, 2014
Today was carnival day in Meerane which meant a street
parade through our town. It just so happens that this is a day before my
birthday! YAY! So we went outside to watch the parade. It was really cool, they
had confetti everywhere! They even had confetti guns that were shoved full of
confetti and they would shoot them at people or into people’s open windows. It
was very random with what looked like anyone who had a costume could join. But
it was awesome. We watched the parade then followed it into town seeing Manu
along the way. Once in town there was a little party set up in the market
square. It had food and different stands and a guy talking. We got some food
then headed back to the house to change and get ready for my birthday meal at
the American Diner. Heavens booked us seats at the bar and we got all dressed up
and had a lovely American meal. I had a hot dog which was lush. But the best
part was the drinks- root beer and sierra mist and the dessert- American pancakes!
YUM!! We got dessert to go and went home to watch a film. I was excited because
I got to wear my new cowboy boots- my gift from Heavens to the diner. The next
day was my actual birthday and I got to open all my gifts from the family while
skyping them and then Heavens made me dinner. It was a great weekend and I
loved my 26th birthday in Germany!!
