Frauentag- Womans Day!

Marc h 8, 2014

Today is International Women’s day and in Germany this is a big deal. We were invited over to Annette’s house along with Manu and Annette’s best friend Anja. We had a nice BBQ and drank many, many drinks. We also had these shots where you must tap them on the table before drinking and you cannot use your hands to drink them. There were all different flavours and it was nice. We also had egg nog shots out of the chocolate waffle shot glasses. We listened to music and talked and even danced! It was a good night and a great way to celebrate woman’s day with great women.

Until next time,

Faschingtag/My Birthday

February 8-9, 2014

Today was carnival day in Meerane which meant a street parade through our town. It just so happens that this is a day before my birthday! YAY! So we went outside to watch the parade. It was really cool, they had confetti everywhere! They even had confetti guns that were shoved full of confetti and they would shoot them at people or into people’s open windows. It was very random with what looked like anyone who had a costume could join. But it was awesome. We watched the parade then followed it into town seeing Manu along the way. Once in town there was a little party set up in the market square. It had food and different stands and a guy talking. We got some food then headed back to the house to change and get ready for my birthday meal at the American Diner. Heavens booked us seats at the bar and we got all dressed up and had a lovely American meal. I had a hot dog which was lush. But the best part was the drinks- root beer and sierra mist and the dessert- American pancakes! YUM!! We got dessert to go and went home to watch a film. I was excited because I got to wear my new cowboy boots- my gift from Heavens to the diner. The next day was my actual birthday and I got to open all my gifts from the family while skyping them and then Heavens made me dinner. It was a great weekend and I loved my 26th birthday in Germany!!

Until next time,
